ENTRY DARI SHAH...

Ini adalah entry dari blog Shah semalam yg gagal dipublish kerana blog kedua dia baru disekat juga.

The ongoing war between old and new shopping malls around KL has seen a few of the older malls embark on extensive expansion and refurbishment in an effort to win more visitors. We were at Sunway Pyramid this evening to check out what's new at this old mall which I haven't set foot in for almost 3 years.

On arrival at the parking lot I was already quite impressed. They've installed this system to indicate where empty parking bays are located. And above every single parking bay, there's a sensor and a green light to indicate an empty bay, which turns red when a car takes up the space. Finding empty parking was a breeze since those green lights above the empty lots can be seen from quite a distance.

I just hope some of the other malls copy this system soon. Ever had the joy of driving round and round trying to find an empty bay at KLCC, Mid Valley or One Utama on a weekend?

Sunway Pyramid is now no longer yet another Sungai Wang Plaza clone, which was how I found it during my last visit here. Since the refurbishment the place looks and feels a lot trendier, with better known brands setting up shop at the mall.

Despite all the new improvements, it's nice to see the place still retaining it's pyramid theme at the main mall.

Nothing to buy today so we ended up just wasting time around the mall. Had another go at archery after enjoying it so much the first time around at Genting recently.

We're getting a little bit better at this since there were no more stray arrows going to the neighbour's target board.

Mine - ok only lah

Yazids - check out that perfect bullseye he got in the fourth frame

Right after that we went bowling. Maybe I should rephrase that - after that we tried to bowl. It's been over 4 years since we last went bowling so don't laugh at our scores ok. They're over at Yazeed's blog.

After bowling we went for a light dinner at this Balinese restaurant we noticed as we were driving up the ramp to the parking lot. Since we have a thing for Balinese themed restaurants we decided to check this one out.

The decor at the restaurant was simple yet stylish and tastefully done. The ambiance was one of elegance, and unfortunately this was reflected in their prices.

Since we already had Mozza burger & root beer float at A&W when we arrived at the mall, at this restaurant we shared this Ole Ole Bali platter - fried squid, roast chicken wings and seafood sate which cost a whopping RM33.

The seafood sate was quite unique - instead of regular bamboo sticks, they use lemongrass as skewers which infused the seafood with flavour from the lemongrass. As exotic as this may sound, I give this dish a C+ since the roast chicken was a little too oily and the deep fried squid was just plain deep fried squid.

And never order the avocado milkshake unless you're sure they're gonna use avocado - mine tasted mostly of vanilla ice cream and had only small bits of avocado in it. RM9 - deserving a sad D+.

After dinner we went to check out the LG level of the new wing. This level of new wing is now also home to several restaurants that have brought more people to some of the other malls around KL - Tony Roma's, Shogun & Carl's Jr just to name a few. Even Wendy's will be making a comeback to Malaysian soil with the opening of it's first branch here at this mall. Not wanting to lose in the mall war, Sunway too now has a gym - California Fitness opened it's third branch at the mall a few months back. This must be the gym with the best views when you're working out since it overlooks the Sunway Lagoon theme park. It might be worth upgrading my membership to a passport so I can come over to this one during the weekends.

But the one thing I feel will make Sunway Pyramid leap far ahead from most of its competition is the fact that.......

.....Ta daaaaaa!!!! J.Co has also opened an outlet here. The queues are just as long as at Pavillion but that didn't stop me from queuing up. This time to get a dozen for Kak Red and another half dozen for us. Makin bulat la kalau selalu sangat camni.

Sadly, this will be my final blog update here at blogspot. When I tried to publish this post last night I found the new blog blocked as well hence this posting here at Yazeed's blog. I will starting a new blog elsewhere as I am sick of this thing recurring. Yazeed will inform readers here once my new blog is ready. Till then, thanks for visiting Shah's Ramblings over the years. This is me signing out from blogspot for good.
